At Interpack 2005 the IMA Group presented, in a space of more than 1,300 square metres, a series of new machines and complete lines for the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, nutraceutical, tea, coffee and food industries.
TEA, COFFEE & BEVERAGE
The Tea, Coffee & Beverage Division, addressed to producers and packers of tea and herbs in filter bags as well as coffee in pods, with a range of machines suitable for any demand, exhibited for the first time the revolutionary CA1 monobloc high-speed machine for the packaging of soft coffee pods (850 soft pods/minute). Also on show for the first time, the new C27 packaging machine for tea in ecological filter bags (250 tea bags/minute).
The Solid Dose Division, including Kilian, offers the widest range of machines for solid oral packaging needs. Thanks to the co-operation with Vima, a complete range for powder handling and washing systems can be supplied. A series of innovative models were on show: the new Pegasus granulation unit, the Imatic 200 capsule filling machine fitted with 100% in line weight control system, the GS Evolution coating system for capsules and tablets, and the Vima Hydrobox washing station. On show for the first time, the new Pressima tabletop press, with interchangeable die table, together with the following tableting machines: the new Kilian Synthesis 330 and 700, and the Comprima 150 in containment configuration, connected with Vima Hercules Mini lifting column, Vima TwinValve high containment valve and Advantech WIP deduster.
The Blister Division, which together with Win.Pack and the Indian subsidiary company Precision Gears, offers the world's widest range of blister machines (from low to extremely high speed - up to 1,200 blisters/minute), exhibited for the first time the revolutionary compact blister line Giant1 in name and capability - but only 6 metres long (350 blisters and 175 cartons/minute), designed to ensure simple operation and cleaning. Also on show, the C80-A81 blister machine with integrated cartoner, the Win.Pack TR200 in line with the A83 and the Precision Gears TR100XL.
IMA exhibited the new and revolutionary counter C300 (maximum output speed of 300 bottles/minute), the first one equipped with a single product rejection device and with product integrity checked by a colour camera system.
IMA Swiftpack showed the new SwiftPharm 100 multi channel electronic counter for tablets and capsules (maximum output speed of 100 bottles/minute), running with bottles fed by a Swiftpack high speed linear bottle unscrambler and tablets supplied to the counter hopper by a Swiftlift tablet elevator.
ASEPTIC & PHARMACEUTICAL FILLING
The Aseptic Processing & Filling Division exhibited a complete aseptic processing line featuring a Blue Galaxy depyrogenating tunnel, a Hydra linear vial washer and a Sterifill F2000 filling & stoppering machine which features an exclusively new “net weight filling system”.
On show also, for the first time, the new rotary Multifill F840 high speed filler equipped with 18 volumetric filling heads (speed up to 350 bpm). Completely designed to comply with latest GMP standards, this high speed filler benefits from more than 40 years of IMA experience in the filling field, enabling us to satisfy the demands of the pharmaceutical industry for flexibility and reliability.
IMA has widened its range of machines for the cosmetic industry, with new models specially designed for this sector. At Interpack there was an area dedicated to cosmetic packaging.

Also on show, a complete line composed of the Flexa cartoner (200 cartons/minute), the Co.ma.di.s. CD180 tube filling machine (180 tubes/minute) and the side-loading automatic case-packing machine BFB model CP18 available in two versions (up to 10 or 14 cycles/minute). Designed also for the cosmetic industry is the overwrapping machine BFB model AC60.
LIBRA Aseptic Processing exhibited a Sensitive ROTO high speed self-adhesive labeller (speed up to 400 bpm). This versatile machine handles a variety of container shapes and label configurations and can be equipped with a wide range of options, making it ideal for many pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications. The machine on show was equipped with a special inserter application system. Further innovation was represented by the Sensitive SVL 200, a very small and compact high speed labeller (up to 400 cpm) to apply optical vignettes on top of pharmaceutical-type cartons.
The Cartoning Division exhibited for the first time the new Dynamica ergonomic high-speed horizontal cartoner (more than 400 cartons/minute), combining flexibility and advanced performance with low maintenance operations. Other machines on show were the Easy cartoner (80 cartons/minute) in line with the Farmores Prima thermoforming machine, and the Flexa cartoner (200 cartons/minute) in line with the Co.ma.di.s. CD180 tube filling machine and the side-loading automatic case-packing machine BFB model CP18. Co.ma.di.s. exhibited also a C1110 tube filling machine (100 tubes/minutes).
END OF LINE
To round off the long list of new products exhibited by the Group, the End of Line Division, offering a full range of machines for end of line, exhibited the side-loading automatic case-packing machine BFB model CP18 - equipped with tracking system - available in two versions (up to 10 or 14 cycles/minute) and the overwrapping machine BFB model AC60, available in several versions for single wrapping and bundling.
