At Total Processing & Packaging 2007 the IMA Group exhibited a series of innovative machines for the pharmaceutical industry.
SOLID DOSE PROCESSING
On display, the KILIAN SYNTHESIS 500 force feed die feeding tablet press, able to reach a speed up to 360,000 tablets/hour. The isolation of the process area allows for quick and easy cleaning. The tablet chute, the fillshoe and the upper compression rollers are fitted on a pivotal bearing and can be swung out for fast removal of the turret, thus minimizing downtime. The machine is also available with WIP capability.
IMA showed the C80R, a medium speed blister machine characterised by superior performance and flexibility, capable of processing up to 400-600 blisters/minute. It is a leading machine world-wide in the medium speed range due to its continuous running concept. The C80R is able to handle a wide variety of packaging materials. Size changeover and machine cleaning are extremely easy and quick to perform.
IMA SWIFTPACK exhibited the SWIFTPHARM multi channel electronic counter for tablets and capsules. The machine takes electronic counting and bottle filling to higher levels of speed and accuracy and delivers twice the output of existing multi-track counters for a given footprint (100 bottles/minute). Changeover is simple and can be performed in less than 15 minutes.
ASEPTIC & PHARMACEUTICAL FILLING
On display, the IMA LIBRA STERIFILL F2000 high speed in-line filling & stoppering machine for aseptic environments. With continuous motion positive transport system, this machine is suitable for filling liquid solutions into cylindrical vials and for the insertion of rubber stoppers. The particularly accurate constructive concepts allow the machine to condition vials at very high speed (up to 600 vials/minute).
CO.MA.DI.S. presented the new automatic tube filling machine C960, suitable to handle aluminium tubes - saddle fold. The machine has a stainless steel structure and a new type of automatic or, alternatively, ergonomic tube feeder (capacity up to 2,000 tubes), and has been completely redesigned. The C960 reaches a production speed of 60 tubes/minute.
